Murthy Speaks on U.S. Immigration Law in India

As a leading authority on U.S. immigration law, with an international reputation for excellence, Murthy Law Firm founder and president, Sheela Murthy, is frequently called upon to speak at professional conferences to immigration lawyers and high-tech professionals. On hand at the International Technology Law Association’s (ITechLaw) International India Conference, held January 30-31 at the Ritz Carlton in Bangalore, Murthy moderated a panel discussion on Workforce Mobility Issues in the Technology Sector. The panelists included immigration practitioners from India, Germany, the U.K., and the United States, who discussed various aspects of IT contracting, tech-based immigration, and the likely impact of U.S. immigration reform on tech companies. The ITechLaw conference attracts a Who’s Who of top legal professionals and corporate executives who work for and with IT-driven businesses in Bangalore – one of the world’s IT capitals – and elsewhere around the globe.

The next day, Murthy led a hands-on workshop on H1B and L-1 visas at the American Bazaar IT Conclave, held in Bangalore at the Matthan Hotel. She addressed the challenges and opportunities of the post-recession market for IT and other high-tech employees who wish to work in the United States – a topic Murthy understands like few others, given her understanding of the IT industry and her years of experience in U.S. immigration law.

These speaking engagements reflect Murthy’s commitment to public service: just as she provides a wealth of free information on immigration law through her firm’s award-winning website, MurthyDotCom, she feels a responsibility to share her knowledge and expertise with the legal community and the international high-tech industries and clients she is privileged to serve. Such international meetings also give Ms. Murthy a valuable opportunity to gain additional firsthand perspective on the problems and challenges facing potential clients. All in all, it’s a win-win!
