Department of State Global eMail Shutdown

Posted November 17, 2014

The U.S. Department of State (DOS) shut down its eMail system on Friday, November 14th. The system is still down, as of this writing, preventing transmission of eMail both to and from the DOS. Reports indicate that this step was taken due to activities attributed to hackers.

The internal DOS systems are still operational, including visa processing systems. Further advisements are expected once the situation is resolved.
