Can I change the job right next day after receiving my GC?

Answer

Although there is no specific minimum time period in the regulations that one must work for the sponsor after the green card is approved, a good rule of thumb is to work for the sponsor for at least 6 months after the GC is approved in order to demonstrate the validity of the sponsored position. This is especially important if one is planning to apply for naturalization. If a change of circumstance requires that you change to a new employer before that 6-month mark, it would be wise to keep evidence of that compelling reason for the change, as well as evidence that you did work in the sponsored position after the GC was approved (e.g., W-2s and paystubs).
