Extension of Deadline to Withdraw and Re-file Immigrant Investor Petitions with the "Tiger Team"

As outlined in previous Immigration Bulletins put forth by the Law Office of Sheela Murthy, certain immigrant investor petitions have been placed on hold pursuant to a March 19, 1998 INS memo. A June 26, 1998 INS memo set a deadline of July 30, 1998 to file a new investor petition to replace one which is subject to the hold and have it considered by the specially convened team (known as the "tiger team") at the California Service Center.

INS announced in a subsequent Memorandum on August 4, 1998 that the deadline has now been extended to August 31, 1998 in order to file the new investor petition. Withdrawals and re-filings submitted after that date will be filed with the appropriate Service Center which has jurisdiction over the case according to the standard operating procedures.
