AILF Immigrant Achievement Awards - LOSM is Again Sponsor!
Posted
Mar 11, 2001
The Law Office of Sheela Murthy is again proud to be a sponsor this
year of the Annual Immigrant Achievement Awards Ceremony to be held in
Washington D.C. at the Renaissance Hotel on Friday, March 23, 2001. This
ceremony is organized for the benefit of the American Immigration Law
Foundation (AILF).
AILF promotes understanding among the general public about immigration law
and policy, through education, policy analysis, and support to litigators.
Current programs include a litigation project and a new immigration history
exhibit hall at 918 F Street in Washington.
This annual event has the following main purposes:
-
to recognize area immigrants who have made a noteworthy
contribution to our community,
-
to foster a community spirit and encourage support of
AILF's noble mission, and
-
to raise funds for the nonprofit foundation.
This program is attended by senior INS officials,
honorees, AILA members from all over the country, their guests and sponsors.
You might find it helpful to review the "About AILF" page from AILF's
website, which offers information about all the AILF programs and
activities.
This year's six honorees come from Germany, Singapore, Italy, India,
Uruguay, and Taiwan. They are:
Barbara Chesman, a senior State Department official born in Germany;
David Chia, an award-winning public school teacher born in Singapore;
Roberto Donna, a renowned chef and restaurateur born in Italy;
Hemant Kanakia, a prominent technology entrepreneur born in India;
Naul Ojeda, a distinguished artist born in Uruguay; and
Jean Wu, a successful business executive born in Taiwan.
Our master of ceremonies will be James Adams of Washington, D.C.'s Channel 4
News.
By buying a ticket and
attending the event, you lend your support to AILF. Individuals and
organizations are also invited to sponsor the event. There are various
levels of sponsorship. Those interested may contact our office or AILF
directly. We thank you for your consideration towards this noble cause.
As
described in a separate article in this issue of the
MurthyBulletin,
AILA is organizing Lobby Day for those interested to meet with their elected
representatives. Please get involved in the democratic process and make a
difference.
