Posted Mar 18, 2000

On March 9, 2000, the Senate Judiciary Committee met and passed S.2045, known as the American Competitiveness in the 21st Century Act, by a vote of 16 to 2. The next step for the legislation is the full Senate.

We will follow the progress of this Bill and provide you with regular updates. We urge U.S. employers and individuals to contact their Senators for the passage of this Bill into law.

Details as to the provisions of the Bill, including an increase in H1B numbers as well as eliminating the per-country limits on green card cases, among other improvements, are described in the MurthyBulletin dated February 9, 2000.
