INS Accepting Old Version of I-485 Until December 1, 2000

Previously in the MurthyBulletin, we indicated that INS would no longer be accepting the old version of Form I-485, Application to Adjust Status to Permanent Residence after September 30, 2000. After that date, applicants were required to use the new version of the form, revised in February of 2000. <m1u2r3t4h5y>

INS has now announced that it has decided to continue accepting the old form until Friday, December 1, 2000, due to delays in making the new form available. The old form can still be used for applications that reach INS on or before Friday, December 1, 2000. (Applicants who send their forms close to that date and are not quite sure when the package will arrive should use the new form. Postmarking by December 1, 2000 is not sufficient.) <
