Attorney Murthy to Speak in Washington D.C.
Posted Apr 27, 2002

In keeping with the philosophy of The Law Office of Sheela Murthy to continuously gain and share knowledge of the latest developments in U.S. immigration and nationality law, Attorney Murthy will speak at an upcoming American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) seminar, May 3, 2002 in Washington, D.C. Attorney Murthy will speak on H1B issues and serve as speaker and moderator for the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) panel.

The H1B panel on which Attorney Murthy will sit includes Efren Hernandez, Director, Business and Trade Services Branch, Office of Adjudications at INS Headquarters. Mr. Hernandez will speak on H1B portability and the government's position on various H1B issues. The panel also includes Jan Pack, Employment Standards Counsel, Fair Labor Standards Division, U.S. Department of Labor, who will speak on H1B dependency issues.

The U.S. Department of Labor panel for which Attorney Murthy is the moderator includes senior DOL officials whose names may be familiar to regular readers of the MurthyBulletin and MurthyDotCom. The panelists from DOL are Dale Ziegler, Chief, Foreign Labor Certifications; Harry Sheinfeld, Solicitor for the Employment Training Administration of the DOL; and Richard Panati, Chief Certifying Officer of DOL for the region that covers PA, MD, DE, VA, WV, and Washington, D.C.

Attorney Murthy was selected as a speaker and moderator based upon her well-respected knowledge in the field and her active involvement in AILA. Of course, in addition to imparting knowledge the seminars are an invaluable opportunity to garner up-to-the minute information from top-level INS and Department of Labor officials and other immigration authorities and to discuss key issues with these individuals.
