The press release clarifies that applicants residing in Andhra Pradesh, who have existing visa appointments at the U.S. Consulate, Chennai, may go ahead with the visa interview as scheduled. For those who have not yet made visa appointments, our affiliate, Murthy Immigration Services, Pvt. Ltd. in Chennai has verified that the VFS website has started accepting applications for visa interview dates for the U.S. Consulate in Hyderabad, as of this writing. It is not clear if the visa applications are being accepted for all categories of visa. From our earlier update on this topic, U.S. Consulate Hyderabad, India - January 2009 Update, MurthyDotCom and MurthyBulletin readers learned that that the official expectation for the consulate in Hyderabad was to initially interview about 100 applicants per day, limited to the more common visa categories like the B-1/B-2. Thus, it is not recommended that one cancel an existing appointment.
