Editorial on Bombings in Mumbai, India : Attorney Sheela Murthy
Posted
Aug 29, 2003
We at The Law Office of Sheela Murthy offer our sympathies for the tragic
loss of life in this week's bombing incidents in Mumbai (Bombay), India,
where, according to latest news accounts, 52 (CNN)
people were killed and 148 (Reuters)
injured. Reports have also confirmed that the bombs were in the trunks of
taxi cabs near the Gateway of India and the Mumbadevi Temple, located near
the financial district.
We join the rest of the world in condemning these acts of terrorism and
disregard for human life, which only serve to further raise suspicion and
retaliatory actions between individuals, communities, and nations.
At the time of this writing, the U.S. Department of State had not yet issued
any travel warnings for the area, however, we suggest that MurthyBulletin
and MurthyDotCom readers monitor the
DOS
WebSite before going to the region. We also remind our readers that,
at times like this, it is always advisable to allocate more time for travel,
take safety precautions, and keep options open should plans need to be
adjusted. There is also the possibility of increased security procedures
following such incidents.
