Credit Card Payments
Accepted for Electronic Applications
Posted
Dec 12, 2003
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced on December
1, 2003 that it has begun accepting credit card payments for I-90 and I-765
electronic filings. Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover Card
are accepted at this time, as are bank debit cards associated with the
listed credit card companies (indicated by the credit card logo on the debit
card). We previously addressed concerns regarding eFiling in our May 30,
2003 MurthyBulletin article,
Electronic Filing of I-765s
and I-90s Begins, available on MurthyDotCom.
Attorneys, companies that provide electronic legal forms, and the USCIS have
held extensive discussions concerning eFiling. While many of the concerns we
had in May 2003 are still relevant, we appreciate that the USCIS realized
that accepting credit card payments would be an essential first-step towards
making eFiling universally acceptable. USCIS is working hard to further
develop its eFiling into a convenient, yet safe and reliable, process. We
will continue to monitor the progress of eFiling for MurthyDotCom and
MurthyBulletin readers as the USCIS continues to refine the
procedures.
