DHS Officially
Created
Posted
Jan 31, 2003
On January 22,
2003, Tom Ridge was confirmed as the first Secretary of the
U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
He was sworn in two days later, on January 24th, when
DHS
officially was established.
The DHS
WebSite tracks important information. Included is a description of
the new Directorates and Bureaus that will come under DHS, a separate
section on Immigration & Borders, and recent news relating to DHS. With the
need to accomplish many things very quickly, DHS is moving along with its
agenda. On Monday, January 27, 2003, DHS issued a Notice in the Federal
Register on the Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act issues.
MurthyDotCom and MurthyBulletin readers may wish to monitor
the DHS WebSite as we approach the March 1, 2003, deadline for INS to be
merged into DHS. Also available is a Homeland Security Advisory, posting
DHS' daily evaluation of the level of threat or danger to the U.S. from
terrorist attacks and what these levels translate to for the average
American. The Law Office of Sheela Murthy, P.C. will report on the progress
of the DHS for MurthyDotCom and MurthyBulletin readers.
