CGFNS Posting Rosters for the Qualifying Exam Online
Posted May 23, 2003

Regular visitors to MurthyDotCom's section for Allied Health Care Professionals know that nurses and certain other health care professionals are required to apply to CGFNS to certify their credentials and/or evaluate qualifications to seek employment or higher education in the U.S. In addition, nurses are eligible to sit for the CGFNS qualifying exam. The CGFNS Examination must be passed before a person may obtain the CGFNS Certificate. Foreign educated nurses intending to practice nursing in the U.S. generally should begin with obtaining the CGFNS Certificate.

As explained in our April 18, 2003, MurthyBulletin article, 2003 CGFNS Exam Registration Deadlines available on MurthyDotCom, CGFNS will provide a Special Administration of the CGFNS Exam for nurses at select locations worldwide on September 10, 2003. The application deadline for the September 10, 2003 Special Administration of the Exam is June 11, 2003. Applications are available on the CGFNS WebSite.

The CGFNS recently announced that it is now posting the rosters for the Qualifying Exam on its website. A few weeks before an exam, applicants can log onto the CGFNS WebSite and confirm exam locations and dates of administration. Rosters are divided by test center and an applicant may use her/his CGFNS ID number to confirm her/his place on a particular roster. In addition, rosters include the address of the exam center and the time that registration for the exam begins. The posting reminds applicants to bring their admission permits and at least one form of official, government-issued photo identification (such as a passport).

As a further convenience, CGFNS has unveiled a new Automated Voice Response System to enable applicants to access their file information via telephone. The system is integrated with the CGFNS WebSite application system to bring applicants increased access to their file statuses. International callers should dial 001.215.599.6200 and callers from within the U.S. should dial 1.215.599.6200. Long distance charges may apply.

Features of the new service enable applicants to: open accounts to purchase CGFNS products or services; submit educational and professional information to CGFNS for certification and/or verification; choose the locations and dates of examinations; check for their names on exam rosters; check the progress of applications; and pay for CGFNS services by credit card.

As the CGFNS continues to improve its services and accessibility, nurses and other health care professionals should find it increasingly easier to obtain the required certifications. For additional information about the CGFNS, applicants should contact:
