Registration
Deadlines
Posted
Feb 21, 2003
The fourth phase of special registration will begin February 24, 2003 and
continue through April 25, 2003. This phase of the registration applies to
male nationals or citizens of Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, and
Kuwait who were born on or before February 24, 1987. We reported on this
matter in our January 17, 2003 article,
Special Registration: 5 More
Countries & Deadlines Reopened, available on MurthyDotCom.
Only nonimmigrants must apply. U.S. citizens and permanent residents are
exempt from registration. Additionally, registration is required only for
those persons in this particular group who last entered the U.S. on or
before September 30, 2002 and who will remain in the U.S. after March 28,
2003.
We are pleased to inform MurthyDotCom and MurthyBulletin
readers that the original deadline for registration for the third phase of
special registration set for today, February 21, 2003, has been extended to
March 21, 2003. The third phase is for male citizens and individuals of
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. This registration was announced in our December
20, 2002 MurthyBulletin article,
Special Registration: Phase
Three - Armenia, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, available on
MurthyDotCom. Armenia was later removed from the list of subject
countries. The details explaining precisely who must register can be found
in that earlier article. There are potentially grave consequences for
failure to register, so all deadlines should be taken seriously.
Deadlines for the first two groups required to register have expired. Anyone
believing that he has missed a deadline should seek legal advice
immediately.
