2002 Visa Lottery Instructions Now Available
Posted Aug 05, 2000

As expected, the U.S. Department of State (DOS) has issued instructions for the DV-2002 visa lottery. The application period is from noon on October 2, 2000 to noon on November 1, 2000. As in prior years, any application received before or after the designated period will be disqualified.

By and large, the requirements and instructions remain the same as in prior years. However, there are some significant changes. Pakistanis are no longer eligible to apply, and persons born in Poland and Taiwan are now eligible. Please also note that there is a new address to send the DV applications. The DV-2002 program is being handled at the new Kentucky Consular Center. As before, there are different zip codes to use depending upon the applicant's country of origin.

Some basics to keep in mind are that only one entry is allowed per applicant, and the entry must include a signature and recent photo. There is no special form, but it is necessary to include all the information requested. There are also specific requirements for the size of the envelope. An extremely helpful set of Frequently Asked Questions is included in the instructions. Complete instructions are available at: <http://travel.state.gov/dv2002vb.html>.
