INS Attempting to Equalize H1B Processing Pace

In a statement released on Dec. 17, 1999, INS explained that it is their goal to consistently administer processing of H1B Petitions at all the four Service Centers.

In this connection, INS announced that in order to equalize the processing pace at all the four Service Centers, if one of them appears to be processing new H1B Petitions faster than the others, the INS Headquarters will require the faster Service Center to place a temporary halt for the others to catch up. So any perceived benefits that existed till December 1999 by filing with the Vermont Service Center will no longer be applicable!

INS explains that the equalization process will not apply to those who are not subject to the H1B cap. Previous editions of the Immigration Law Bulletin of The Law Office of Sheela Murthy, explain the different scenarios when the H1B quota will not apply. Please review the November 1999 Bulletin of our Office for more detail.
