Improvements in Processing Times at the Texas Service Center
Posted Sep 24, 1999

The INS Texas Service Center (TSC), once considered to be the slowest for many types of petitions or applications, has shown a significant improvement in its processing times. For example, I-485 applications, for which the official processing time was announced earlier this year to be 1000 days (about 3 years), are now down to a 12 to 18 month time frame. While many of you may not consider that very efficient, let us face the fact that this is a considerable improvement!

TSC is now taking, for the I-140 immigrant visa petitions about 2- 4 months (the I-140 petitions had previously been taking 8 to 10 months).

We at The Law Office of Sheela Murthy, P.C. have started seeing the results of the faster turn around time on some cases already. However, these improvements appear to depend upon the continued availability of overtime funds from INS Headquarters. Now that is not expected to last forever!
