No Emergency at VSC Posted Aug 02, 2002 On July 24, 2002, those who called the Vermont Service Center were greeted by a recorded message stating that the VSC was "closed due to an emergency." Readers should be assured that there is no cause for alarm. On the day in question, VSC held a staff awards ceremony attended by many of the Information Officers and their staff members. As a result, the telephones were not answered during a four-hour period. Without the means for tailoring a recording to cover different situations, the "emergency" message is used whenever phones cannot be covered.
