No Emergency at VSC
Posted Aug 02, 2002

On July 24, 2002, those who called the Vermont Service Center were greeted by a recorded message stating that the VSC was "closed due to an emergency." Readers should be assured that there is no cause for alarm. On the day in question, VSC held a staff awards ceremony attended by many of the Information Officers and their staff members. As a result, the telephones were not answered during a four-hour period. Without the means for tailoring a recording to cover different situations, the "emergency" message is used whenever phones cannot be covered. Therefore, it should not necessarily be cause for concern to those who get this recorded greeting.
