Philippines EB-3 to Retrogress in this Fiscal Year Posted Apr 16, 2000 Some of you may be aware that the U.S. Department of State (DOS) had earlier announced its intention to retrogress the China employment-based second preference category (EB-2) next month from May 2000. Now DOS believes that the EB2 category for China may not retrogress after all. Now they believe that the EB 3 for The Philippines will likely regress before the end of this fiscal year (September 30, 2000). This additional retrogression in The Philippines EB-3 category is likely to become necessary because of the large number of recent adjustment of status (I-485) approvals for health care workers by the INS. The increase in I-485 adjudications does not appear to have any immediate effect on the EB preferences for India, so, according to the DOS, the EB 2 and EB 3 categories for Indian nationals is likely to remain the same for the remainder of this fiscal year.
