Posted Apr 12, 2002

Due to the current situation in Israel, the U.S. Department of State (DOS) has issued a Travel Warning to U.S. Citizens. The Warning, issued on April 2, 2002, is available in its entirety at the DOS WebSite. As mentioned in, U.S. Curtails Consular Operations in Pakistan, posted on MurthyDotCom concurrently with this article, the DOS issues travel advisements and travel warnings based on country conditions and emerging problems.

The Travel Warning directs U.S. citizens to defer travel to the area and urges U.S. citizens within the area to follow precautions and to consider departure. Those who choose not to depart are directed to avoid public areas and certain roads and to obtain updated information from the U.S. Embassy and Consulate General.

All travelers are told to expect delays. Dual PalestinianAmerican Citizens may have particular difficulties. Given the attacks and violence, the Embassy and Consulate General may, from time to time, suspend public services for security reasons.
