Visa Reissuance : Passports Released After Irradiation
Posted Apr 12, 2002

As a follow-up to our December 21, 2001 article, Anthrax Causes Delays in Visa Revalidations at DOS, we are pleased to advise readers that some of the affected passports have been released. The U.S. Department of State (DOS), Visa Office Revalidation Unit reported on April 4, 2002 the receipt of approximately 50 passports that had been delayed due to the anthrax decontamination process. The original report on this matter indicated that approximately 300 passports were misplaced while anthrax precautions were taken.

The Visa Office stated that some of the passports were to be sent on April 5, 2002 and that it was contacting the affected applicants promptly. MurthyBulletin and MurthyDotCom will continue to update our readers regarding developments at the Revalidation Unit as information becomes available.
