VSC Tells Companies About Premium Processing – June 2001
Posted Jun 22, 2001

In some previous articles in recent issues of the
MurthyBulletin, we have discussed INS' new Premium Processing Service for certain employment-based, nonimmigrant petitions. For details on the types of petitions that are eligible for premium processing and the procedures to follow, kindly refer to the article entitled, INS Issues Instructions for Premium Processing – June 2001 in the June 8, 2001 MurthyBulletin.

The Vermont Service Center (VSC) of INS has been sending a letter to companies who have filed multiple petitions within the past year, to inform them on the availability of the Premium Processing Service. The letter provides contact information for VSC's premium-processing unit, and details of the program are described in an enclosed information sheet.

Publicizing the new program in this manner is helpful to prospective employers and also makes sense for INS, since the program is likely to generate a lot of revenue. Hopefully, these additional resources will be channeled into improving processing times for all types of cases, though we have to wait and see.
