NSC Will Consider Fax Inquiry System Similar to TSC
Posted Jan 19, 2000

Based on several requests from AILA regarding the difficulty of obtaining status information on pending cases at the Nebraska Service Center (NSC) of the INS, NSC has agreed to study the feasibility of establishing a "fax-back" inquiry system similar to that in place at the Texas Service Center (TSC).

NSC has already forewarned us that even if they institute a fax-back inquiry system like TSC, it will be subject to certain restrictions. NSC intends to use faxes only for routine matters like a request for information missing from the file, for example, lack of a LCA or an I-94 copy in the H1B Petition package.

This NSC fax-back inquiry system is not likely to be implemented any time soon and NSC does not seem eager to provide this service for the time being. However, it is still noteworthy since on prior occasions NSC has refused to even consider the matter!
