Update on Consular Processing : London and Ciudad Juarez
Posted Sep 4, 1998

The Law Office of Sheela Murthy has learned from AILA (the American Immigration Lawyers Association) that the U.S. Embassy in London has a whole new team, with plans underway to significantly change the way the Embassy operates. According to AILA, there have been many complaints about general delays and unresponsiveness, as well as problems with unjustified denials in certain types of cases. We certainly hope that the new procedures will bring significant improvements to the consulate in London.

AILA has also indicated that the U.S. Consulate at Ciudad Juarez, Mexico is now accepting E-2 (treaty investor) applications from non-Mexicans whose investment enterprise is in the states of Kansas, Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona or California. On a case-by-case basis, the Juarez post may also agree to accept applications from E-2 persons whose investment is located in other states.
