Our National Interest Waiver Work
Posted Jan 30, 2004
Often we are asked about our firm's national interest waiver (NIW) work and
what makes us so unique in this area. How is it that while many other law
firms are reluctant to process these cases, we have an overwhelming success
rate in this area?
The National Interest Waiver
is one of several avenues
to the green card in the United States. For
those not familiar with the qualifications for an NIW, which falls the under Employment-Based Second Preference
(EB2) Immigration category, one may be a professional in almost any
field, doing work that could benefit the U.S. in the national interest in
any number of ways. One does not have to be doing AIDS or cancer research.
One could have a unique business concept, or be an artist or performer who
helps to build bridges between various cultures and art forms. These are
just a few of the possibilities.
Besides being within the realm of business immigration law, the intellectual
stimulation of working with our brilliant clients is always exciting. The
NIW team at The Law Office of Sheela Murthy, P.C. works tirelessly with our
clients who are NIW candidates, advising them on the language of the
reference letters, helping to summarize their research or work in language
as simple to understand as possible. This, I assure you, is no mean task!
Our firm gains these approvals for our clients through our ability and
willingness to break complex terms and phrases into easily comprehensible
terminology so that the USCIS examiner will be able to appreciate the
complexity of the petitioner's work, yet understand it with no trouble.
In our law firm, we have successfully received approvals on several hundred
cases for many different professionals. We spend a great deal of time on
each case since the attention to detail and the time commitment is much more
than in most other green card cases. Examples, in alphabetical order, of
approvals received on behalf of our clients range from Aerospace Engineers,
Biotechnology Researchers, Chemical Engineers, Digital Imaging Processors,
Environmental researchers, through to a Zoologist, all doing some unique or
unusual work in the U.S. national interest. Synopses of some of our NIW approvals are available
on MurthyDotCom.
We look forward to continuing to help exceptional individuals with this
difficult category and are proud to help the United States in acquiring such
desirable talent.
