The Directorate of the U.S. Border and Transportation Security (BTS) issued
Federal Register Notices on August 20, 2004 and August 26, 2004 to correct
the entry and exit ports for the U.S. Visitor and Immigrant Status Indicator
Technology Program (US-VISIT). US-VISIT ports were most recently addressed
in our August 6, 2004 MurthyBulletin article,
US-VISIT Exit Procedures
begin at Additional Ports, available on MurthyDotCom.

The August 20, 2004 Federal Register Notice added six ports of entry to the
US-VISIT program: Albany International Airport, NY; St. Petersburg /
Clearwater International Airport, FL; Port Everglades seaport, FL; Andrews
Air Force Base, MD; New York City seaport, NY; and Port Canaveral, Terminal
10, FL. In addition, the Notice deletes Agana International Airport (Agana,
Guam) and McCarren International Airport (Las Vegas, NV) from the list of
exit ports, and replaces those ports with the Seattle / Tacoma International
Airport, WA and Ft. Lauderdale / Hollywood Airport, FL. Though the August
20, 2004 Notice also deletes Alfred Whitted Airport in St. Petersburg, FL,
and the seaport in Jacksonville, FL, from the list of air and seaports that
are collecting data under US-VISIT, the August 26, 2004 Notice adds the
Jacksonville, FL seaport back to the list since its omission was an error.

Under the US-VISIT program, visitors and immigrants (other than U.S.
citizens) are required to provide fingerprinting, photographs, or other
biometric identifiers upon entering or departing the United States at land
and seaports of entry / exit. The goal is to increase our security and
monitor those traveling in and out of the United States.
