The USCIS expanded the InfoPass online appointment system to Pennsylvania (PA) on August 5, 2004. The appointment system is now available in the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, PA USCIS offices. In addition, the system became available in Buffalo, NY and Newark, NJ on August 9, 2004. This is consistent with the USCIS plan to expand InfoPass nationwide. The phased-in plan to extend InfoPass to all USCIS Districts by September 2004 was the subject of our July 30, 2004 MurthyBulletin article, InfoPass to Expand Nationwide, available on MurthyDotCom.

This expansion is part of ongoing efforts to improve USCIS efficiency and customer service. The system allows an individual to make appointments online, to arrange an appointment time to meet with and speak to an Immigration Information Officer. This is a vast improvement over the former system of simply standing in line or taking a number and waiting for several hours outside, whatever the weather, during the work week. We look forward to the expansion of this system and the continued efficiency and improved customer service by the USCIS to those who use its services and pay handsomely for them.
