President Bush signed Senate Bill 2302, entitled, "A Bill to Improve Access to Physicians in Medically Underserved Areas," into law on December 3, 2004. This law, which is Public Law 108-441, extends and improves the Conrad 30 waiver program. We provided detailed analysis on this Bill in our Nov 26, 2004 MurthyBulletin article, J-1 Physician Waiver Extension Expected, available on MurthyDotCom.

The provisions specifying the H1B cap exemptions for physicians receiving waivers of the J-1 home-return requirement, based upon either interested federal or state government agencies, will be very helpful. For more information on options for physicians, see MurthyDotCom's special Physician Section.
