Congresswoman Zoë Lofgren (D-Ca), Chair of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship, Refugees, Border Security and International Law, has issued a demand for documents to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as a follow-up to a letter she sent on July 2, 2007. She made this demand because the DHS had not responded to her July 2nd letter. Congresswoman Lofgren's July 9th document demand provides only three days for the DHS to comply with her detailed request. She also issued a rather scathing statement to the DHS regarding the USCIS's "inability to perform their core mission."

Congresswoman Lofgren's letter is available on her website, as are a wide range of documents, all related to the incidents leading up to the USCIS's refusal to accept I-485, Adjustment of Status, applications in July 2007. Those interested in petitioning the USCIS to comply with the request, to bring the facts of this situation to light and show support for this cause, can do so through the Immigrants' List WebSite.
