We at The Law Office of Sheela Murthy have recently (June 2004) been informed that, with visa revalidations near an end, the U.S. Consulate in Chennai, India plans to open 5 new nonimmigrant visa interview windows within the next month. They will also add 6 new officers to the nonimmigrant section over the next six months. In spite of these increases in staff and services, the consulate continues to recommend that those who will be traveling to India and will need a nonimmigrant interview should schedule those interviews well in advance to avoid having to remain abroad for several months.

Attorney Murthy will visit the U.S. Consulate at Chennai next week, during her July 2004 journey to India. She will meet with the Chief of the Consular Section and possibly other consular officers, to obtain the most up-to-date information on the consular section's processing of visa cases and their legal and procedural position on various issues of interest to our clients. We always appreciate the consulate's willingness to meet with Attorney Murthy on a regular basis, so that we may exchange information and provide better service to our clients who use the services of the U.S. Consulate in Chennai, India.
