| | Former INS Commissioner Comments on End of INS Posted Mar 21, 2003 In a March 4, 2003 Miami Herald article, James Ziglar, the preceding permanent INS Commissioner, wrote about the role of, and his hopes for, the INS now that its functions have been divided. In his article, Former Commissioner Ziglar called upon the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to "maintain, and even strengthen, the [former] INS' traditional service function," though he recognizes that the placement of the immigration services functions into a department dedicated to security is "not a natural fit." We at The Law Office of Sheela Murthy, P.C. commend Former Commissioner Ziglar for his views on pro-immigration services and his recognition of the valuable contributions to the United States, which immigrants have made and will continue to make.© The Law Office of Sheela Murthy, P.C. | |
