INS Update on H1B Count
Posted Jun 15, 2001

INS reports that as of May 23, 2002, it issued 117,000 H1B approvals counting toward the 195,000 "cap." As of the same date, another 40,000 cases subject to the cap were pending at INS Service Centers.

While we at The Law Office of Sheela Murthy cannot predict with absolute certainty whether this year's quota allocation will be sufficient to meet the demand for H1Bs, it does appear reasonably likely that H1Bs will continue to be available up to the end of the fiscal year on September 30, 2001. Of course, when the INS releases any update on H1B usage, we will post the information at www.murthy.com and include an article in our MurthyBulletin. So stay tuned!
