Reminder : Must Use New Forms as of October 1, 2003
Posted Sep 26, 2003

We want to remind MurthyDotCom and MurthyBulletin readers that, as of October 1, 2003, there are changes with regard to the version/s of certain immigration forms that are valid. We wrote about this matter in our September 5, 2003 article, New Versions of Certain Forms from October 1, 2003. As of October 1, 2003, it will be necessary to use only the most recent versions of Forms I-140, I-129(S), N-470, I-102, I-526, I-829, and N-336, otherwise the U.S. Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS or CIS) will reject the package.

We remind our readers who have forms awaiting signature or filing that they should take steps to assure that any old versions of the forms are sent so that they will be received by the USCIS on or before September 30, 2003. This may require quickly returning the signed, old versions of forms to your attorney or sending a polite reminder to your employer, as the commonly used I-140 (Immigrant Petition for Alien Worker) requires the employer's signature in most cases, except for self-petitions.
