Meet the Murthy Law Firm: Shay Taylor

The dedicated team of attorneys, paralegals, and support staff at the Murthy Law Firm is integral to our success. To introduce our readers to the dozens of individuals who come together to make our clients and our firm successful, we periodically present one of our exceptional team members. This entry in our continuing series, Meet the Murthy Law Firm, shines the spotlight on Marketing and Communications Manager, Shay Taylor.

Shay came to Baltimore from North Carolina to study at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), where she earned her bachelor’s in fine arts and, years later, a master’s in photography, with a focus on the digital arts. Twenty years ago this year, Shay joined the firm, which then was known as the Law Office of Sheela Murthy. She has seen tremendous growth in that time.

Shay works with a great team of attorneys to keep the Murthy community informed. Shay writes much of the content that is not about immigration law, but instead about the Murthy Law Firm, and she edits everything on the website for grammar and style. She keeps a watchful eye that articles and NewsFlashes are written for all to understand – not full of esoteric legal terms aimed at only readers in the legal profession. She posts new information on the website and to social media almost daily. She promotes all of our online services, and is part of the team behind the scenes during the weekly MurthyChat.

The firm has always worked to offer free information that explains how U.S. immigration works and how the laws and policies are applied by the government. “It is a tremendous service,” Shay says, “and we put a lot of time into producing, checking, and rechecking the information, to make sure it is accurate when is goes up.” All of this is part of living up to the firm’s slogan: We know immigration matters!® She really takes this to heart.

Today, Shay is involved in other projects, too, including (which follows the public persona of our founder and president, Sheela Murthy) and She has been part of the MurthyNAYAK Foundation’s efforts in India, which she describes as one of the greatest experiences of her life. She is proud of her role in helping the Murthy Law Firm to grow into one of the world’s preeminent immigration law firms. “I like being part of something that matters. The work we do here helps a lot of people. Sheela and Vasant are extraordinary folks to work for, and they care deeply about their employees. We are family.”
