Meet the Murthy Law Firm: Jessica Beaver

The dedicated team of attorneys, paralegals, and support staff at the Murthy Law Firm is integral to our success. Day after day, they help to fulfill the dreams of our clients through their integrity, diligence, and commitment to excellence. To introduce our readers to the dozens of individuals who come together to make our clients and our firm successful, we periodically present one of our exceptional team members. This entry in our continuing Meet the Murthy Law Firm series shines the spotlight on the attorney coordinator for the Green Card Department, Jessica Beaver.

Jessica grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, and spent her childhood playing sports, practicing her violin, and singing in the church choir. In high school, she concentrated her energies on a series of mission projects in her community as well as overseas – a dedication that remains a big part of her life. Outside of her job at the Murthy Law Firm, she is on the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) Foundation Board, on the Women United Executive Council of United Way of Central Maryland, and a member of the Red Shoe Crew, supporting the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maryland.

Jessica’s early dedication to service inspired her to pursue a career that would help others, and she wavered between becoming a doctor or a psychologist. Eventually, she decided to shift her focus to law school, because she felt it would give her the greatest potential to make a difference in the world. She discovered her passion for immigration law during her second year of course work and began volunteering at the Capital Area Immigrants’ Rights (CAIR) Coalition, where she “worked with detained immigrants, educating them about their rights, and reviewing their case histories to see if they qualified for any form of relief.”

After graduating from law school, Jessica found herself in Baltimore after being selected for the law clerk program at the Murthy Law Firm. Following intensive eight-month rotations in every legal department, she joined the team as a full-fledged attorney. Jessica currently is the attorney coordinator overseeing the Green Card Department, and credits the nurturing environment fostered by Sheela Murthy for making the Murthy Law Firm such a fulfilling place to achieve her career goals. “We have a very positive work environment, and all of us are concerned for each other’s well-being. I just think we have a lot of positive people, and if you have that, you’re bound to love what you do.”
