Murthy Law Firm in the Holiday Spirit

Last week, we at the Murthy Law Firm held our annual holiday party in the Rockland Center of the new – and growing – Owings Mills campus of Stevenson University. The room was alive with laughter and animated conversation, livelier still with the opening of the buffet line, and only slightly muted as everyone tucked into a delicious holiday meal. The mood was festive and very much in the holiday spirit!

While coffee and dessert were being served, office manager, Donna Mayne, and Sheela’s personal assistant, Reggie Sukhai, entertained us with a brief skit. The crowd was suitably warmed up for our president and founder, Sheela Murthy’s high-spirited holiday message. She thanked every employee in the firm for working so very hard to make 2010 a successful year, even in the midst of a recession. She warmly and effusively praised the attorneys, the support staff, and the tech team for their dedication, professionalism, and most of all for caring about the clients we serve – showing that concern every day, person to person, helping each client to reach her or his dream of living and working in the United States.

Following Sheela, the firm’s managing partner, Aron Finkelstein, took to the stage. Nattily dressed in a tuxedo, Aron told a humorous story about his recent experience trying to enter India on a business trip, when a small glitch in his travel arrangements threatened to snowball into an immigration problem. The story ended happily, but poignantly taught a lesson about standing in the shoes of an immigrant, and seeing things from the point of view of our clients.

All in all, it was a wonderful celebration. Sheela made each and every employee feel appreciated, an important contributor to the firm’s ongoing success, and a member of the Murthy Law Firm family. The employees responded by presenting Sheela and her husband, Vasant, our head of operations, marketing and technology, with an award, signed by everyone, proclaiming them “Employers of the Decade!”

Happy Holidays to each of you from all of us at the Murthy Law Firm!
