Attorney at Murthy Law Firm Named One of Maryland’s Top 100 Women!

All of us at the MurthyLawFirm extend our warmest congratulations to our friend and colleague, Jonelle Ocloo, who was just named one of the Top 100 Women of 2012 by the Maryland Daily Record. Ms. Ocloo is a graduate of Yale Law School, and is a senior attorney at the firm. She studied and worked in Japan for three years, and speaks Japanese and Ga, a language of her native Ghana. Ms. Ocloo was chosen for this honor because of her professional excellence, community involvement, and work as a mentor.

Those of us who are privileged to work with Ms. Ocloo can testify to her professional excellence – as her clients certainly can, too. What’s truly amazing is the level of community involvement she keeps up, alongside a busy and highly successful legal career.

Ms. Ocloo currently chairs the American Immigration Lawyers Association’s (AILA) Citizenship Day, which mobilizes immigration lawyers in the MD-DC-VA area to help with citizenship applications on a one-day, pro bono basis. Over the years, she has set up and volunteered at several similar events around the region. She has mentored aspiring immigration lawyers at the University of Baltimore Law School, and served as mentorship coordinator for Women in International Trade (WIIT) in Washington D.C. Ms. Ocloo is also an active participant in the Snacks-in-a-Backpack program at her church, which provides healthy snacks for underprivileged school kids.

We are all proud of Jonelle, and glad to have her on our team. Congratulations, Jonelle!
