Murthy Law Firm Attorney Marches 60 Miles for Charity

Murthy Law Firm attorney Kevin Andrews joined a small group of hardy souls to commemorate Memorial Day this year with a 60-mile march from Harper’s Ferry, West Virginia to Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. This was no ordinary hike, but a “ruck march,” a military term for a fast-paced walk over rough terrain, with a loaded backpack. The march was held to honor the sacrifices of American military service members, past and present, and to raise money for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, which provides education assistance to children of service members killed in action.

The group marched without sleeping, arriving at Arlington National Cemetery 36 hours after they set out – but not before tackling 12 hours of rugged mountain topography in the Appalachian Mountains, spending another 24 hours traversing relatively flat terrain, and making stops in Washington to pay their respects at the World War II and Korean War Memorials. Of the twenty-five people who started, 19 of them finished. Kevin commented:

“It was the most grueling thing I’ve done – so far – but I felt pretty accomplished afterwards… I even won a ‘Warrior Award’ for motivating and leading the team, which was a complete surprise to me, considering many of them are Marines, SEALs, and Special Forces!”

We are proud of Kevin, and congratulate him and his fellow marchers on a job well done: they covered a lot of ground, and raised a tidy sum – over $6,000 – for a very worthy cause!
