Preventing Devastation

Across the country and around the world, we watched as the horrors unfolded in waves once Hurricane Katrina made landfall on August 29, 2005. It became abundantly clear that the senseless loss of life, as well as the loss of property, services, and human dignity, must be prevented from ever occurring again. Criticism was harsh, and deserved. Pledges were made, and a number of government organizations have been working to this end.

“And what does the Murthy Law Firm have to do with any of this?” you may well ask.

Our firm worked on the immigration case for a scientist whose research in the areas of hurricane climatology and modeling, natural disaster management, and land-use planning have the goal of building safer communities and reducing poverty in costal areas prone to damage from flooding and devastating winds. Environmental risk assessment and improved infrastructure before another severe hurricane occurs is critical if the aftermath that followed Katrina is to be avoided in the future.

We at the Murthy Law Firm are honored and proud to have a hand in bringing the best and the brightest to this country and to have had the opportunity to work with this scientist on his immigration filing. We know that his skillset, talent, and the passion he has for his work will greatly benefit, not only the United States, but also other countries where Atlantic hurricanes and tropical cyclones wreak havoc.
