Murthy Law Firm Attorney Serves on Board of CHAI

At the Murthy Law Firm, good corporate citizenship is an integral part of the business plan, based on Sheela Murthy’s conviction that doing well and doing good are two sides of the same coin. Murthy sets an example for the firm, contributing her energy, passion, ideas, and hands-on leadership to a wide range of community organizations, from the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland to her alma mater, Harvard University.

Following Murthy’s lead, lawyers and staff at the firm likewise give generously of their time to help the community. For instance, Kevin Andrews, a Murthy Law Firm attorney, serves on the Board of Directors for CHAI, Counselors Helping (South) Asians/Indians, Inc. CHAI is a nonprofit that provides outreach, referral, and educational services to the South Asian community on matters related to mental health and wellness, serving the Baltimore / Washington metro area. CHAI helps South Asian clients to find mental health professionals who have the language skills and cultural proficiency needed to best serve their needs. It also sponsors workshops to increase the cultural proficiency of mental health professionals, making them more attuned to the customs, traditions, and social norms of the South Asian community.

We commend Kevin for giving generously of his time and talents to help CHAI succeed in this important mission, and we salute all of the lawyers and support staff at the firm who take time to give back to their community!
