Sheela Murthy Named to 2013 Super Lawyers List

Super Lawyers Magazine has published the much-anticipated 2013 list of Maryland’s top legal counselors, and once again, Sheela Murthy is among the select and highly talented lawyers who made the cut, recognized as one of the top lawyers in immigration practice, yet again.

The prestigious Super Lawyers directory is published by Thomson Reuters, a leading global source for business news and information. The selection process is quite rigorous, involving several stages of vetting. According to Super Lawyers Magazine, lawyers are invited to nominate their peers – peers they have observed in action – for inclusion in the Super Lawyers candidate pool. Researchers then evaluate each candidate based on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement.

  1. verdicts and settlements
  2. transactions
  3. representative clients
  4. experience
  5. honors and awards
  6. special licenses and certifications
  7. position within law firm
  8. bar and/or other professional activity
  9. pro bono and community service as a lawyer
  10. scholarly lectures and writings
  11. education and employment background
  12. other outstanding achievements

Further screening is done by a panel of lawyers drawn from each candidate’s primary practice area. Final selection takes place after the point totals are tabulated, and inclusion in the prestigious Super Lawyers list goes only to those candidates who received the highest scores for their category, based on the firm’s size. According to Super Lawyers, the final list represents no more than five percent (5%) of the lawyers in the entire state – the crème-de-la-crème of the Maryland bar, carefully vetted by their professional colleagues.

Once again, Sheela Murthy has risen to the top, across twelve key indicators of legal excellence. We at the Murthy Law Firm are delighted – but hardly surprised – that Ms. Murthy again has been selected for this important honor. Congratulations, Sheela!
