Congratulations, President Obama!
21 Jan 2013Today we extend our warmest congratulations and good wishes to President Obama as he begins his second term in the White House. It is a time for hope in the face of major challenges, at home and abroad, and a time to reflect on the unique historic significance of this day.
It could not be a more appropriate that Mr. Obama’s second inauguration falls on same day that we celebrate the life and achievements of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who followed Mahatma Gandhi’s path of nonviolence in his struggle to free our society of racial inequality. Mr. Obama’s presidency would never have been possible without the work of Dr. King – and of countless other Americans, known and unknown, who joined together in a hopeful struggle to make our country a better place, one that fully lives up to its ideals.
Today we hope, once again, that people of good will – all across America – will find common ground and come together to solve the problems facing our nation – to bring peace to the world, at home and abroad, to put our nation’s finances on sounder footing, and to lay the groundwork for our children’s future, giving them the education they need to grow and prosper and fulfill the promise of a more just society.
Congratulations, Mr. Obama, and all the best to you!
