Murthy Law Firm Celebrates 20th Anniversary!

Twenty years ago, I started a solo immigration practice on our dining room table. It was a daunting step to leave the security of a big firm and strike out on my own. Some days, at the beginning, it seemed like a crazy dream, and I wondered whether there would ever be enough clients to keep me afloat – but I stuck to it and the practice grew, especially after my husband, Vasant Nayak, put www.murthy.com online. I worked 14 hours a day not only as the attorney – I was the receptionist, paralegal, bookkeeper – I did it all, and before long I was so busy that I knew I needed to recruit others to help me.

I hesitated at first, because it was like trusting someone with your baby: who would care enough? What drove me to start the firm in the first place was my own bad experience with an uncaring immigration attorney; I wanted to make sure our clients would never have to go through what I went through. I wanted a firm that would take care of its clients and treat them like family. Where would I find people who truly shared that mission?

Looking back, I realize I need not have worried so much. For the past twenty years, I’ve been surrounded by people whose extraordinary talents are matched only by their extraordinary kindness and their deep commitment to others. I don’t take that for granted, and I never will. There isn’t a single day that I don’t count my blessings for having such a terrific team and for all of the wonderful people who have been on this incredible journey with me through the years. Of course, our clients who trust us enough to take care of their immigration, most often without meeting us personally. They must feel the warmth and attention to detail adopted by our employees who care about each person and their life, not just their file. (Though both words are made from the same letters of the alphabet, at the Murthy Law Firm, we really take care of each life, not just each file.)

Likewise, there are our online followers, those who may be represented by their employers’ attorneys, or who have other reasons they have not hired us yet to represent them, but who nonetheless refer to MurthyDotCom to research a topic, or for late-breaking immigration news. Those who subscribe to our eNewsletter, submit questions on the MurthyChat or MurthyForum, listen to our podcasts or teleconferences. By using the Murthy Law Firm’s free online services, they allow us to answer a need and they, too, put their faith in us.

This celebration is possible because of our dedicated and diligent staff, our faithful and loyal clients, and for our online followers and well-wishers. Thank you all for being a part of our lives, and for allowing us to be a part of yours.
