Meet the Murthy Law Firm: Aron Finkelstein, Managing Attorney
19 Apr 2016The dedicated team of attorneys, paralegals, and support staff at the Murthy Law Firm is an integral part of our success. Day after day, their integrity, diligence, and commitment to excellence help to make the dreams of our clients into reality. In order for the public to become more familiar with the dozens of individuals who, together, make our firm so successful, we periodically introduce readers to one of our exceptional team members. For this latest entry in our continuing series, Meet the Murthy Law Firm, we shine the spotlight on Aron Finkelstein, the firm’s Managing Attorney and a firm Member.
Aron long seemed destined to become a lawyer. As he describes one of his earliest childhood memories, “I was maybe three or four years old, and my grandmother told me, ‘That’s going to be my lawyer!’ I figured if my bubbe said so, then it had to be true!” In school, Aron earned a high score on his SATs and went on to secure a spot in the honors program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. A week after graduating college, he commenced law school at the University of Baltimore, while also working during the day at a small litigation firm, and helping his wife prepare for the birth of their first child.
After completing law school a semester early, and with several judicial internships under his belt, Aron tackled his first immigration case by taking over representation of a Russian national who had failed his citizenship test due to a disability. By researching immigration laws and regulations that address disabilities and communicating directly with immigration officials in Washington D.C., Aron helped his client become a U.S. citizen. This case, along with several others at the beginning of the career, helped to cement Aron’s ‘can do’ philosophy as an immigration attorney. “I realized the government doesn’t have all the answers, and it’s perfectly okay to push back! Some attorneys look at the law, and if it doesn’t say ‘you can do this,’ they give up. That’s a ‘can’t do’ mentality. If the law doesn’t say you can’t, and you can make an honest, good faith argument, you need to be a zealous advocate for your client, and push ahead to get a good result.”
Aron credits the Murthy Law Firm’s success over the years to the positive and nurturing environment created by founder and President, Sheela Murthy, and her husband, Vasant Nayak, the firm’s Technology and Online Consultant. “You need a culture and a philosophy that allows someone to grow. You look at our attorneys, and the knowledge and expertise they’ve developed, how excellent they have become, and you have to ask: who created this ability? Sheela and Vasant! They epitomize the kind of people who can make things grow.” Aron looks forward to a future of continuing to work with the Murthy Law Firm and feels strongly that “getting hired here was the best thing that ever happened to me – aside from my wife and kids, of course!”
