NewsFlash! First FY12 H1B Cap Count: Cases Still Being Accepted

The USCIS has issued the first H1B cap count for fiscal year 2012 (FY12). This count, issued April 8, 2011, reflects a low rate of filings. The count of cases filed as of April 7, 2011 stands at 5,900 filed against the regular cap limit of 65,000 and 4,500 cases filed against the 20,000 advanced-degree exemption. Based upon prior filing patterns, this means that the cap filing season is likely to extend for months. The annual USCIS cap count is updated online. We will continue to advise our readers of any significant developments related to the H1B cap.
