Can I get more than one 3-year extension based on an approved I-140 beyond 6 years of H1B?

Yes, a person could get more than one three-year extension beyond the six-year H1B limit based on an approved I-140. As long as the priority date isn’t current, a person could keep getting the three-year extensions. There is no legal limit to the number and ultimate duration of these extensions. There are many people who are well beyond six years of H-1 due to these extensions. (23.Dec.2013)
