Can a person on EAD own a retail business, such as a Subway, while working full time in a field related to his degree?

Answer

The EAD typically provides unrestricted employment authorization. So, a person with an EAD can work in any job or own any business. If one is the primary beneficiary of a GC case, s/he needs to continue to have a job offer (and, preferably, a job) that qualifies her/him for approval of the GC. If that individual has time to work a second job apart from the GC one, that is generally not a problem while using the EAD. (12.May.2014)
