What dependent status or visa does the wife of a green card holder get after getting married?

Unfortunately, there is no dependent / visa status immediately available to the spouse of a lawful permanent resident (LPR or ‘green card’ holder). If the marriage happens after the GC is approved, the LPR can petition for the spouse in the FB2A category. However, this category is backlogged in terms of visa number availability. (17.Nov.2014)
