Is an H1B transfer possible and safe on medical leave (unpaid) with no pay stubs?

Answer

H1B workers on proper medical leave are considered to be in valid status. Thus, it would be possible to obtain a new H1B approval and even an extension of status in the U.S. if there is proof of the leave. However, it is important to be able to fully document the validity of the leave, beyond just a letter to the employer. If a person must take an extended period of medical leave, there should be proof from an appropriate medical provider – covering the period in question – regarding the condition and treatment.
