Government Shift on Oct 2015 Visa Bulletin Leaves Thousands in Deep Despair

When the original version of the October 2015 Visa Bulletin was released on September 9, 2015, there was tremendous excitement in the immigrant community. Granted, the revised system was not perfect, leaving a great many foreign nationals with continued wait times for immigration benefits that would stretch on for years. Still, it was a dramatic improvement that promised to immediately help tens-of-thousands of legal immigrants in the United States.

And then, only days before the filings were scheduled to commence, the government inexplicably and without warning made a number of harsh revisions to the visa bulletin.

The Murthy Law Firm is outraged and disturbed by this sudden about-face by the U.S. Department of State, which was almost certainly in response to pressure exerted by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Thousands of foreign nationals have spent time and money, as well as tremendous emotional investment, preparing to file their applications in October. The government’s conduct has been inexcusable, leaving many in despair. The Murthy Law Firm understands how deeply disruptive this has been to people’s lives, and how hopeless they feel – abandoned by the very government of the country they have sought to make their home. We are exploring every possible option to correct this injustice.

In the meantime, there are steps you can take to help pressure the government to recognize the error of its ways and reverse this decision. A good place to start is by signing this White House petition, which calls for President Obama to intervene and ensure that the DOS honors the cutoff dates listed in the original October 2015 Visa Bulletin. We are also recommending that the immigrant community reach out to elected officials by phone, eMail, and U.S. Mail to have their voices heard. Please join the Murthy Law Firm in fighting to make the American dream a reality for so many who have struggled for so long.
